All Amer Hamburger Drive-In
4286 Merrick Rd, Massapequa, Searingtown,
Overrated, a waste of time and money. Long lines, cheap food. Anywhere in NYC is much better than this wannabe. Try the Corner Bistro in the city, forget this place.

Amy Ruth's Restaurant
113 W 116th St, , Searingtown,
MOUTHGASM! The food was so good, I begin to yell after each bit upon intiating the first chew! I ordered, smothered chicken, mac and cheese, wafflies. The waffle is thick, make sure you order enough syrup. Depending on your luck, be prepared to wait at least an hour for your food. (especially if theyr'e busy) Mind you, I ordered at 1 AM and waited an hour for the food. You can sit and enjoy a magazine and take int he Harlem folks. This wait was one of the most worthy in all my ordering food and that includes Atlanta's Busy Bee on MLK Dr. The hospitality is good too. Be sure that you check your food before you leave as the employees are really busy and can get sidetracked! The neigbhorhood was okay. I went at 1 AM and felt very safe. The cost for the food is actually pretty decent given the portion of food they're going to give you. Be prepared to spend at least $15 on one entree, excluding dessert, which you will want-Red Velvet Cake, might I suggest? If you travel to NYC, take the FDR and exit @ 125th st.. 116th street West will put you directly back on the Expwy when you're ready to leave. Very convienient by foot or car.

Patsy's Pizza has the best pizza around and its just so tasty. The pizza is cooked to perfection, the tomato sauce is perfect and theres the right amount of cheese. I would definitely return to this place. The service is great also.

Peter Luger
178 Broadway, Brooklyn, Searingtown,
Peter Luger's is an original and I'm glad I went to experience it firsthand. But I would need a pretty darn good excuse to schlep all the way back to Brooklyn for another visit. The atmosphere of the place is on par with a college town tavern. Worn paneling, crowded bar, uncomfortable wood chairs, guys in sweatshirts and ball caps...if you're expecting a white tablecloth experience - fuhgetaboutit. The wait staff is friendly, but hurried. The meal was better than average, but certainly nowhere near the best steak I ever had. The best thing was the bacon appetizer, which is literally just a single slice of thick cut bacon that's been cooked under the same super hot broiler that cooks the steaks. The steak had a nice char on it, but it was overcooked (our table of four ordered medium rare and we got something closer to medium well). The sides of creamed spinach and fried potatoes were pretty standard, but nothing to write home about. The sundaes for dessert were pretty good. Peter Luger's is old school, and "back in the day" (before the national chains arrived on the scene) I can completely understand that it was a special dining experience. But the Luger's concept of charring high quality, well aged, prime beef under intensely hot broilers has been elevated to higher levels by countless other prime steakhouses all over Manhattan and across the country. Those other places also figured out a few other things along the way including the fact that cutting a steak into pieces straight out of the broiler isn't a good idea because most of the juices end up on the plate instead of in the meat (regardless of how many times you spoon the lost juices back over the parched meat), and that a strip steak and a filet mignon (the two sides of a porterhouse and two very different cuts of steak) deliver their best flavor and consistency when cooked specifically to bring out the best in each cut. If you're looking for an expensive, classic, charred steak with absolutely no frills and no ambiance, Peter Luger's is the place to go. If you prefer a white tablecloth, no shoving at the bar, appropriately dressed patrons, a choice of steak cut, and a comfortable chair, then try any of the dozens of other prime steakhouses across the country.
